Lebanon - Claremore

It was raining when we left Lebanon this morning. Approaching Springfield, the weather improved.
We chose the city alignment (1926-1935) through Springfield.
We made a short stop in Carterville for taking pictures.
We took the route through Joplin city and Missouri was behind us.

Route 66 runs for only 13 miles in Kansas, but have a lot of interesting places to visit.
Galena Mining & Historical Museum is really worth a visit. On display is an impressive collection of artifacts, including mining tools, equipment, ore samples, and hundreds of photographs.
The Eisler Bros. Old Riverton Store has a huge collection of Route 66 “stuff”.
The Marsh Rainbow Bridge should not be missed!
Leaving Baxter Springs and Kansas was done.

Quapaw is the first town in Oklahoma (for Route 66 travellers coming from Kansas), and just outside Narcissa we drove for some miles a 8 foot wide (!) stretch of the old Route 66.
Claremore was our destination for today. We arrived too late for the Will Rogers Memorial, but we will visit it tomorrow.
