Clinton - Amarillo
We started with a visit to the Route 66 Museum. All information you need about
Route 66 is there.
Then we stopped at the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City for pictures.
After Sayre we reached Hext. Just after Hext we drove some old (closed) stretches of
the old road.
Texola was the last stop in Oklahoma.
Shamrock in Texas was the first stop in the 5th State of our journey.
McLean with the first Phillips 66 gas station and the Devil’s Rope Museum was a nice place
on our trip.
The leaning Water Tower in Groom got our attention (and all other R66 travellers too..),
and the largest cross in the western hemisphere is really tall.
The Big Texan Restaurant in Amarillo was our destination for today.
Regarding the attached .kml file, there is a part between Texola to Alanreed missing, because of “technical” difficulties.
