Claremore - Clinton

A wonderful morning today!
First we visit the J. M. Davis Gun museum. A huge collection of all kinds of fire arms and other historical items are on display.

Will Rogers Memorial is really worth a visit, but you should have at least a couple of hours to spend.

From Claremore we drove through Verdigris, Cartoosa (Twin Span Bridge), towards Tulsa.
After Tulsa we passed Oakhurst, Bowden, Sapulpa, Kellyville (tried an old alignment, but was closed), Bristow, Pulaski, Depew (pre1939 alignment), and stopped in Stroud at the Rock Café.
From there we went through Davenport, Chandler (old gas station), Warwick, Wellston, Luther, Arcadia (Round barn and the Hillbillee’s B&B) and Edmond.

Through Oklahoma City we used Kelly Av., 50th St., Lincoln Blvd, 23rd St., 39th St. and Overholster Dr. towards Bethany (Old Overholster Bridge).
Then we went on to Yukon, El Reno (pre 1933 alignment), Geary (stretch of dirt road older than R66) for a stop at the Pony bridge. 38 trusses form a nearly 4000 foot ridge across the Canadian River.
Next stop was at Lucille’s gas station.
Today’s trip we finished in Clinton. Route 66 museum is for tomorrow on the agenda.
