Waipukurau to Wellington
In the morning at check out we
discovered the vintage Ericsson telephone hanging on the wall. A real beauty
from 1916 and still functional! Our first stop was Norsewood, a
town build mainly by Scandinavian Immigrants. Look
at the pictures in this link. After Norsewood we passed
Dannevirke, another town influenced by Scandinavian immigrants. Next stop was the Pukaha Mount
Bruce National Wildlife Center. After Masterton we stopped at the
Awaiti Gardens in Carterton. After Featherston we drove a very
windy section of the SH2 across the Rimataka Hill towards Pakuratahi. Look in
Google Earth the today’s trip for this section. From there we drove to Wellington,
our destination for the next two days. Today’s trip: Waipukurau
to Wellington: 272 km |
