Tauranga to Hicks Bay

The destination for today is Hicks
Bay and the East Cape, the most easterly point of NZ. After leaving Tauranga we followed
SH2 towards Opotiki. From Opotiki we took SH35, which follows
the Bay of Plenty coastline to Hicks Bay. From Hicks Bay we went to Te
Araroa and from there the East Cape Road to the Lighthouse. What a wonderful view from the Lighthouse! We decided to drive here early
next morning (06:30) to watch the sunrise. Today’s trip: Tauranga to
