Taupo to Hamilton

First stop today were the Huka
Falls, just outside Taupo. Very impressive and the color of the water,
unbelievable! Just a short trip from Huka Falls,
we visit the Crater of the Moon, a walk around geothermal activity. Next stop was the Geothermal Power
Station in Wairakei. We continued to Rotorua, and just
at the city limits we have reached 4000 km on our trip around the North
Island. We stopped for lunch. We drove then a scenic route around Lake
Rotorua. Matamata was our next stop. This
place is also known as Hobbiton from the movie Lord of the Rings. Hobbiton is
just outside of Matamata and can only be accessed on guided tour busses. The rest of our trip today was SH1
into Hamilton. Tomorrow is our last leg from our tour around the island,
Hamilton to Auckland Airport. Today’s trip: Total trip
